- in New York City. A professional jazzman at 13, Ramirez brought
- ebullience and eclecticism to his work with vocalist Ella Fitzgerald,
- big-band leader Charlie Barnet and modern master Miles Davis.
- Ramirez was also a composer, best known for Lover Man, the sinuous,
- melancholy ballad that became a signature tune for jazz diva
- Billie Holiday.
